Tourism Figures

According to Google, and they probably know more about us than we do ourselves, before the Covid19 pandemic the number of visitors to Stratford was 2.4 million per year. According to The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust that figure is now being reached again hence the commissioning of the new Gateway Project.

Whilst it’s undeniable that the majority of overseas visitors are coming because of the Shakespeare phenomenon it is also true that many overseas and British visitors come because of the generally pleasant nature of the town and its environs.

The public spaces are pretty and well kept. There are facilities for all age groups and a wide range of interests. Finally, it’s not a very well-kept secret that many train and coach excursion operators make here the final destination on their mystery tours.
