History
JJ Belton indicates that in 794 an estate was formed by “Offa, son of Sighere, King Of Essex” which was given to the Monastery Of Worcester. Farming was the primary engagement of the area. Indeed Anne Hathway’s family owned a large farm here before she met William Shakespeare. Robert de Stratford (link to John de Stratford at present time) owned land here.
