We tend to think of recycling as a purely modern phenomenon. However those canny Stratfordians reuse parts of buildings fairly often. The following buildings are known to have donated or received building parts from others:


  1. Staircase from New Place to Dower House as a reuse of materials

  2. Portico from Shakespeare Hotel to Red Horse Hotel as a commercial transaction

  3. Roof clock from Old Hospital to Double Tree Hotel for preservation of history
