History

There was a mediaeval village here. Foundations of a collection of houses and the site of the first St Peter’s Church have been found but all is under grass now.

Whilst the hamlet is tiny in 1841 11 houses were known but only 30 years later only 4 were occupied in 1871. Burton Farm and Manor Farm were adjacent. As part of the World War II effort the whole area was pulled down and ploughed up to extend the latter.
