Stratford Herald article: Stratford’s Forgotten Museum

A Superb Contribution To A Future Museum

On Saturday 25th February we met Will Cowan, the son of Harry Cowan, the great Stratford modeller. Without doubt his models are carefully researched for accuracy, the real buildings surveyed and photographed and a superb scale model built. Three were built. Here is the 1840 Canal Basin Model as featured in the Stratford Herald recently.

Temporary Homes

Where the models currently reside has problems and so they are being moved out. There is one that couldn’t be saved. There is one of Stratford’s GWR Railway Station which has been moved to Didcot on long term loan. Finally there is this one of The Two Canal Basins in Stratford 1840. By negotiation it is hoped to pack this up for transportation to a new home. More about that later.
