History

First referred to in 1599. It is a low ceiling timber framed pub that was once thatched.

Originally all beer was brewed on the premises. George E Court was recorded brewing here in 1920. At some point the pub was taken over by Flowers Brewery.

In 2004 it was bought by Greene King.
