Flamboyant Proprietor Of The White Lion Pub
Born in 1800.
He sold open fields to the East of Guild Street. This was to be a new classy mini-suburb with a Georgian style to be modeled on Leamington Spa. The developer named the roads created there, John Street and Payton Street, after him.
The developer was William Tyler (died 1665) a rich businessman. When he died he left 1/5 of his money to KES and 4/5 to the Tyler Charity -one of the Municipal Charities Of Stratford.
Holtom Street is named after Holtom (b1850) who built the Georgian houses there.
