History
We are not yet sure where the previous exchange was. However due to the presence of the RSC high number of hotels and guest houses that relied on bookings it was decided that Stratford needed a much more modern exchange.
In 1975 The Eversley Hotel, next to the then bus station (see Payton Street), was bought, demolished and a multistory trunk exchange built (still looking for a photo).
Due to electronic miniaturisation a loarge part of the front of the exchange was unused and so in 1990’s it was sold off to a hotel group. A very large portion of the exchange remains at the rear.
