The slip was quite serious and resulted in the Canal & River Trust closing the towpath from Bishopton Lane to Timothy’s Bridge Road. (See below and footer)

Nature Of The Slip
Land, that appears to be just a mixture of poor soil and industrial waste, has slipped 3-4m pushing fencing, small trees, hedge and the footpath itself to the edge of the canal. (see below)
Cause Of The Slip
These new industrial warehouses on Stratford Enterprise Park sit on raised land. It is quite obvious that there was probably little machined settlement of the extra material laid underneath the new units. There appears to be no bolstering of this as it slopes down the bank to canal level. Significant rainfall in December obviously softened this until it has just slipped down under its own weight. According to C&RT this has happened before.
No towpath remaining
Material has pushed everything into the canal.
